Teacher On Special Assignment- K-12 Behavior Specialist (2)

Reports To:
Director of Student Services Position Summary The Behavior Specialist plays a critical role in supporting students' social-emotional and behavioral needs across the Penfield Central School District. This position provides direct intervention, conducts assessments, and collaborates with educators, families, and mental health teams to create positive learning environments. Key Responsibilities Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Provide direct support and intervention for students exhibiting challenging behaviors. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to implement effective strategies. Train and guide school staff on behavior management techniques. Maintain accurate records of student progress and adjust plans as needed. Observe students in various settings to assess behaviors. Develop and implement building-level behavioral data review processes. Assist Mental Health Teams with behavioral practices and procedures. Provide consultation and training to parents on behavior management strategies. Participate in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) meetings. Monitor compliance with behavior and incident documentation. Deliver professional development workshops for staff, including TCI-S Training. Conduct student education and outreach activities (assemblies, classroom instruction). Required Qualifications Candidates must hold one of the following: School Psychologist certification/licensure with relevant experience. Master's degree in psychology, education, social work, or related field with specialized training in behavior management. Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification. Preferred Skills Strong knowledge of behavioral assessment and intervention strategies. Experience with special education systems and processes. Ability to provide professional development and parent training. Familiarity with MTSS frameworks and data-driven decision-making. Work Environment District-wide role serving six schools. Collaborative team setting with educators, mental health professionals, and administrators.
