Requirements:
Lead Teacher job duties Must be at least 18 years of age Must have a High-school diploma (or equivalent) Must have a Certificate of Child Development Associate (CDA), Associate Degree (or higher) in Early Childhood Education, or an approved related field. At least two years experience working with children in a childcare setting (preferred) The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations. Must be able to pass required background checks The positions are full-time Must demonstrate leadership skills and be responsible for all persons under her/his care Job Duties Responsible for implementing and following all agency and department policies and regulations Keep accurate records in classroom including; attendance, Sign In/Out sheets, meal counts, programmatic data collection, behavioral data, etc. Maintain positive communication with parents and families Implement curriculums, complete progress reports Maintain a safe learning environment for all children, and report any safety concerns to the Director Maintain neat and organized rooms Advise Director of needed supplies Must be prepared for class prior to children arriving Greet children and parents in a positive manner at all times Participate in center events Attend staff meetings Review and follow cleaning schedule (eg: Clean shelves and counter tops, dust classroom, vacuum rugs &/or sweep floors with a broom daily) Room must be in compliance with all standards Assist as needed with serving of meals and snack Assist children with daily living skills Observe children in classrooms and on the playground Must maintain required in-service training & continuing education requirements which are mandated by DCY and Step Up to Quality The Lead Teacher writes/submits weekly lesson plans to Director for approval by designated time frame. Lesson plans must provide a well balanced program and a variety of activities for both quiet and active play. They must also be dated, properly marked, clear and ready for a sub just in case of an absence. Be knowledgeable of and Implement curriculum(s) utilized by the agency This position may require you to change soiled clothing (including diapers, underwear etc.) Assist in other areas as needed.
