We're looking for a passionate, dependable, and student-focused Woodwind/Brass Instructor to join our team. The ideal instructor is an encouraging educator and skilled musician who can help students develop strong fundamentals while discovering their own musical voice. Woodwind instructors may teach flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet or other woodwind/brass instruments , depending on their area of expertise. Responsibilities Provide individualized one-on-one woodwind instruction to students of varying ages and skill levels Create personalized lesson plans based on each student's goals, interests, abilities, and learning style Teach proper instrument setup, posture, hand position, embouchure, breath support, tone production, articulation, and technique Develop strong fundamentals in scales, rhythm, sight-reading, music theory, ear training, and musicianship Teach students how to read and interpret music with confidence and independence Develop technical skills including fingerings, articulation, phrasing, dynamics, intonation, and musical expression Introduce students to a variety of musical styles and repertoire, including classical, concert band, jazz, pop, contemporary, musical theatre, worship, and more Help students develop confidence, stage presence, and performance skills Prepare students for recitals, auditions, competitions, school performances, honor bands, ensembles, and other musical opportunities Encourage creativity through improvisation, arranging, playing by ear, and exploration of different musical styles Maintain a positive, encouraging, and age-appropriate learning environment Track student progress and provide constructive feedback to students and parents Maintain accurate lesson notes, student records, and scheduling information Communicate professionally and consistently with students, parents, and the ARA team Participate in recitals, workshops, camps, community performances, and other ARA events when available Collaborate with other instructors and contribute to a supportive studio environment Continue developing professionally as a musician and educator Qualifications Strong proficiency on one or more woodwind instruments Solid understanding of woodwind technique, musicianship, and music fundamentals Ability to teach beginner through advanced students, depending on area of expertise Strong knowledge of music theory, rhythm, sight-reading, ear training, and musical interpretation Teaching and/or performance experience preferred, but not required Comfortable teaching a variety of musical styles Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Patient, encouraging, adaptable, and able to connect with students of different ages and personalities Professional, dependable, organized, and punctual Ability to create an environment where students feel comfortable learning, making mistakes, and growing Passion for helping students build confidence through music Willingness to help students prepare for performances and other musical opportunities Commitment to continued personal and professional growth Additional Skills & Experience The following skills are a plus: Flute, clarinet, saxophone, or multiple woodwind proficiency Concert band and ensemble experience Jazz improvisation and jazz performance Classical repertoire and technique Pop, contemporary, or commercial music Musical theatre Worship music Marching band experience Playing by ear Improvisation Doubling/multiple woodwind instruments Experience preparing students for auditions, honor bands, competitions, or chair placements Experience working with young beginners Ensemble or band coaching Music theory and composition Recording, production, or live performance experience Ability to accompany or collaborate with other instrumentalists and vocalists Experience teaching multiple instruments What Makes Anthem Road Academy Different?
