Overview We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Coordinator and Teacher to join our small, Waldorf inspired, charter school team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs. This role requires effective project management skills, leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of educational administration. The Special Education Coordinator and Teacher will work collaboratively with other educators, support staff, and families to develop tailored educational plans that promote student success. Duties Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) based on students' unique needs and abilities. Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies for students with special needs. Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly. Manage classroom behavior through effective strategies that promote a positive learning environment. Lead professional development workshops for staff on best practices in special education. Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and IEP compliance. Provide academic advising to students and their families regarding educational pathways and resources. Participate in recruiting efforts for special education staff as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field; advanced degree preferred. Teaching certification in Special Education is required. Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting is essential. Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously. Proficiency in budgeting and resource allocation for special education programs. Demonstrated leadership experience within an educational or administrative context. Familiarity with curriculum development tailored to diverse learning needs. Experience in administrative roles is a plus. Excellent writing skills for grant proposals, reports, and documentation.
