A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Active Oregon TVI (Teacher of the Visually Impaired) Certification/Licensure required Experience supporting students who are blind or visually impaired across a K12 caseload Skilled at employing adaptive technologies and individualized curriculum modifications Strong communication abilities for effective teamwork and student/family collaboration Motivated, organized, and adaptable to serve multiple locations or work virtuallyRole Responsibilities:
Provide direct and consultative services to K12 students in a range of educational settings Assess students functional vision, create Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and track progress Adapt curriculum materials and utilize assistive technology tools to meet student needs Work proactively with IEP teams, school staff, and families to support students integration and success Travel within assigned counties or connect virtually to deliver quality instruction and support Document services and maintain organized records as required by local and state guidelines Imagine guiding students toward independence and academic achievement while enjoying the flexibility to work in person or remotely.
