Provide ESY Special Education services for qualified students in a classroom, small group tutoring, and individual tutoring.QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
specific curriculum content for subject areas, state and federal laws regarding special education, child development, differing disabilities, and their impact, as well as the why and how of inclusive practices. Skilled in: lesson plan development, implementation of engaging learning activities, behavior management, assessment, teaching to individual student skill levels and providing specially designed instruction to a wide-range of special needs, assisting general education teachers in making curriculum accessible, and student progress monitoring. Ability to: communicate effectively orally and in writing, and collaborate and build relationships with students, parents, and staff.Experience:
Experience working with special needs students. Bilingual/Spanish speaking preferred.Education:
Completion of a higher education Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in education/teaching.Certification Required:
A valid teaching license issued by the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission with proper Special Education Endorsement.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and times as designated. Use data to plan a program of study that meets the interests, needs, and abilities of the students and follows established curriculum as written by the district and the state and promotes independence and achievement. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the supervisor. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent within the limitations of the location and resources provided by the district. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning the academic and behavioral progress of the students. Cooperate and collaborate with other members of the staff. Attend staff meetings and other meetings as required. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules of the school and district. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and maintain such records as required by law and district policy. Take all reasonable precautions to provide for the health and safety of the students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities. Participate in program planning for children with disabilities and provide special education instruction to identified students through direct service delivery, teacher consultation, and materials adaptation. . Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure curriculum is accessible and all accommodations and modifications are implemented. Serve as a resource to parents of students with disabilities. Maintain records, reports, and documentation as required by the District. Participate in the design and implementation of behavior support plans for students with IEPs. Perform other duties as assigned.JOB REQUIREMENTS
Language Skills:
Ability to read English and comprehend complex technical language. Ability to write memoranda, correspondence, lessons plans, reports, and student achievement summaries in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations.Mathematical Skills:
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy.Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed, but basic, written or oral instructions in English. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor(s), staff, students, parents and community.WORK ENVIRONMENT

Licensed, Temporary position, at Edwards Elementary Campus.ONLY INTERNAL APPLICANTS NEED APPLY.
CALENDAR/BENEFITS:
8:00am•3:30pm for 16 days; Monday-Thursday July 6th, 2026•July 30, 2026 plus 2 days additional time for training. (Actual working hours may vary, final schedule TBD at a later date. Paid by timesheet at the Curriculum Rate in accordance with the 2026-2027 Salary Schedule. Newberg School District pays 6% PERS contribution, provides a generous insurance cap and long-term disability insurance. Optional Life, AD&D insurance, Short Term Disability, Tax Shelter Annuities, Section 125 health and dependent care accounts, and Employee Assistance Program through Uprise Behavioral Health also available to all staff.
