Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students by providing specialized educational support as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. Located near the beautiful Eugene, OR area, this full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to collaborate with multiple schools in the district, delivering essential services to students who are visually impaired.
Key Qualifications:
Valid state teaching certification with an endorsement in Visual Impairment, or eligibility to obtain. Demonstrated experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments. Ability to adapt curriculum and instruction to meet individualized student needs. Strong communication skills to partner with students, families, and school staff. Flexibility and organizational skills to travel between multiple school sites as required by district needs. Dedication to creating inclusive, accessible learning environments.Primary Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education programs (IEPs) for visually impaired students. Provide direct instruction and consultative support in a variety of educational settings across the district. Assess student progress and adapt teaching approaches as needed. Collaborate with classroom teachers, orientation and mobility specialists, and other related service providers. Advocate for accessibility and the provision of appropriate accommodations and materials. Engage with families and caregivers to support student learning and independence.Assignment Details:
Full-time hours, ranging from 37.5 to 40 hours weekly. Contract assignment; schedule aligns with the academic calendar, beginning in mid/late August and concluding in late May/early June (exact dates TBD). Travel required to multiple locations within the district; no remote or hybrid work options available.
