Job Description

Embark on a fulfilling contract opportunity working with elementary students who have developmental disabilities. This position is based at a single site in Central Falls, RI, and begins with the 2026/2027 school year. Youll work standard school hours, totaling 37.5 hours per week, in a classroom dedicated to students in grades 3 and 4. With a manageable class size of just nine students and a strong 1:3 teacher assistant support ratio, youll have the resources you need to make a true impact. Bring your expertise in special education and support a dedicated group of learners, while also benefitting from considerable training opportunities throughout the upcoming school year. Youll work with students who require a patient, individualized approach, helping them develop academic and social skills in a supportive, collaborative environment.
Desired Qualifications:
Current Rhode Island teaching license in Special Education (mild-moderate or severe) Experience with elementary age students, especially those with developmental disabilities, preferred Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills Ability to adapt instruction based on individual student needs Commitment to ongoing professional development
Role Responsibilities:
Provide individualized and small group instruction to develop academic and life skills Collaborate with classroom assistants to maintain a supportive 1:3 teaching environment Create a positive, inclusive classroom culture that encourages student growth Monitor academic progress and adjust IEP goals as needed Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and school support staff Participate in comprehensive training sessions and professional learning communities This role offers the security and benefits of a contract position with weekly pay, access to health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan.
