Key Qualifications:

Active Special Education teaching license from the Rhode Island Department of Education for Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary levels. Ability to demonstrate compliance with the Right to Read Act by either holding Structured Literacy proficiency or completing certification within one year of hire. Previous experience working with children who have mild-to-moderate or more intensive disabilities in a classroom setting. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a commitment to inclusive practices and differentiated instruction. Adaptability to work within either a Resource/Inclusion setting or a Self-Contained classroom, as district placements require.

Primary Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver individualized instruction and interventions based on student IEPs. Monitor student progress toward goals and adjust teaching strategies accordingly. Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student success and inclusion. Foster a safe, positive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages engagement and growth. Complete ongoing documentation, attend meetings, and participate in professional development as needed. This full-time contract position is 35 hours per week, running through mid-June 2027, giving you the chance to build meaningful relationships and make a sustained impact.
