McDowell Center for Children is seeking a dynamic and talented Teacher . The Teacher is responsible for conducting an educational assessment and developing and implementing an individualized tutorial plan based on the individuals learning needs and abilities. The Teacher will participate as an integral member of the treatment team and in developing the continuing care plan with regard to educational placement upon discharge. The Teacher will provide age and developmentally appropriate education in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of McDowell Center for Children.REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Education required. Master's degree preferred.Experience:
Previous experience working with children and adolescents with special educational needs preferred. Licensure /Certification:
TN Elementary or Secondary Education Certification/License in Special Education preferred. If not Special Education, must be willing to obtain certification/endorsement.Skills/Knowledge:

A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes.
