Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Exciting opportunity available for a dedicated Special Education professional passionate about early childhood education. In this contract role, you'll work with a Pre-K caseload, providing specialized instruction and support to young learners and their families throughout the academic year. You'll collaborate closely with staff in a welcoming elementary school environment, sharing your expertise and actively engaging in developing individualized education plans for your students.

Key Qualifications:

Valid Tennessee Special Education License with one or more of the following endorsements: 459, 465, 468, 2000, 2001 Candidates with an active TN SPED endorsement may qualify to add a Pre-K endorsement by passing the required Praxis exam—the school will cover the Praxis cost for the right candidate Experience or coursework working with preschool-aged children or early learners in special education settings Ability to design and implement effective interventions based on student IEPs Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Primary Responsibilities:

Teach and support a Pre-K caseload, providing individualized and small group instruction Develop and track student IEP goals in coordination with other educators and families Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment Utilize evidence-based strategies to address diverse learning needs Document student progress and maintain accurate records Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school initiatives Enjoy a Monday through Friday schedule, working 35 hours per week with consistent daytime hours, allowing you to make a meaningful impact while maintaining work-life balance.
