Special Education Teacher 2 Ingram Blvd, La Vergne, TN About the School American Classical Academy Rutherford (ACAR) is a tuition-free, public classical charter school located in La Vergne, TN. Opened in August 2024, ACAR serves students in grades K-7 and will grow one grade level per year until becoming a full K-12 institution. ACAR is part of the Barney Charter School Initiative of Hillsdale College, a national network of classical charter schools united by curriculum and purpose. The mission of ACAR is to train the minds and develop the character of students through a content-rich classical education in the liberal arts and sciences, with instruction in moral character and civic virtue. We are seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers who embody high moral character, mastery of their subject matter, and a passion for forming students in both knowledge and virtue. American Classical Academy Rutherford:

To train the minds and develop character in students through a content-rich Classical Education in the liberal arts and sciences utilizing instruction in the principles of moral practices and civic virtue. Special Education Teachers (K-8) provide support for students with special education needs, including both within the general education classroom and in small group settings. Lower School Special Education Teachers are also exemplars of ACAR's Virtues and actively seek to develop strong moral character in students. Key Responsibilities Developing, implementing, and tracking plans for special education services Supporting general education teachers in implementing appropriate accommodations Communicating frequently and consistently with parents about students' behavioral and academic progress as well as events in the classroom Continuously improving instruction and content knowledge through coaching, professional development, and independent study Fostering a sense of joy and wonder in the classroom and beyond Maintaining high expectations for both academics and behavior through a commitment to schoolwide policies and procedures and the classical model Qualities and characteristics of a successful Lower School (K-6)

Teacher:

Bachelor's or above in Special Education or related area Teachers License with a 460/461 Endorsement. Familiarity with best practices in pedagogy, particularly in literacy instruction Knowledge of the classical model of education High moral character Thoughtfulness and a love of learning Salary and Benefits
