Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in the Nashville area, working in a contract position for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time opportunity (Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours weekly) involves serving K-12 students within district DHH hubs, including an expanding presence at the middle school level. With your expertise, you'll collaborate with educational teams, provide consultative support, and help ensure each learner can access their fullest potential in the classroom.
Qualifications and Experience Sought:
Current and active Tennessee Department of Education certification Previous experience with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students (schools-based preferred) Strong communication and consultative skills with multidisciplinary teams Comfort adapting to varying caseloads (grades Pre-K through 12) Familiarity with consultative models of deaf education is an asset Ability to complete all Tennessee fingerprinting and credentialing requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized support and services for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Travel between DHH hub sites within the district as assigned Consult regularly with teachers, interpreters, and school staff to ensure accommodations and services are implemented Support individualized education program (IEP) development and goal monitoring Employ evidence-based strategies for language, communication, and academic growth Adapt to student needs and changing district assignments over the school year This assignment allows you to make a lasting impact and help shape a supportive educational environment for learners with diverse needs.
