(Based on $25/hr for 1760 hours per year) Green Oaks Education and Support, a private Christian school and adult education program for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, is looking to hire a full time Transition Teacher for our Adult Education Program. Applicants should have a background and experience in working with individuals who have intellectual disabilities. A minimum of a bachelor's degree in special education or a similar field is preferred. The position involves providing support in both an academic learning environment, as well as non-classroom learning settings. This is NOT a caretaker position. This position will start as soon as possible. Must be 21 or older to apply.

Duties:
Classroom Teacher Responsible for all aspects of creating a dynamic learning environment for students in the class. We are looking for a Classroom Teacher for our Green Oaks Adult Learning Program for our transition and adult participants
Primary Responsibilities:
Treat all students with dignity and respect. Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests. Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate. Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations. Assess students enrolled in the program. Develop and implement individually designed programs. Teach students with diverse abilities. Plan and coordinate transitioning to the next class. Use technology and adaptive equipment. Supervise teacher assistants and volunteers, as applicable. Supervise the classroom and ensure the health and safety of each student. Plan and follow a daily schedule. Plan and implement daily activities with appropriate accommodations and adaptations for academics and social skills. Maintain an organized, attractive and developmentally appropriate learning environment. Maintain appropriate interactions with families. Drive students in school vans and/or personal vehicles. Attend conferences and in-service opportunities. Maintain knowledge of and compliance with all school policies. Maintain appropriate records on each student. Evaluate teacher assistants, as applicable. Plan and implement methods of establishing a positive liaison with parents, visitors, and volunteers. Assist in public relations and fundraising events sponsored by the School. Perform other responsibilities as designated by the Directors. All staff must meet school driver requirements, including having personal automobile insurance, a current driver's license and a good driving record.
Benefits:
30 hours per week is considered full time for benefits except for short term disability which requires 35 hours per week. All full time employees will receive short term disability, 1800MD, & life insurance at no cost. Health insurance is available to all full time employees with Green Oaks paying a portion of it. Employees will be responsible for 100% of any additional family coverage they enroll in. All full time employees are eligible to participate in our 403(b) retirement plan (tax-sheltered annuity plan or TSA). At this time, Green Oaks does not contribute to the plan. Pay is determined by relevant experience, work history, education, and internal equities. Green Oaks uses these factors to offer the maximum fair compensation to all employees.
Programs:
Green Oaks Education and Support, Inc. consists of three programs, Green Oaks School (GOS), Green Oaks Adult Learning (GOAL), and Green Oaks Vocational (GO-Voc). Green Oaks School (GOS) Green Oaks School is a Christian-based school for individuals with intellectual disabilities, elementary ages through adults, who do not have serious medical involvement or significant behavior challenges. The primary focus of our school is to teach at the level of ability and interest of our students. We offer math, reading, writing and basic social studies. In addition, the students receive instruction in art, music, computer skills and physical education. Our students are afforded the opportunity to develop lifelong friendships and often make great social gains in addition to academic growth. Green Oaks School follows an August to May academic calendar. Green Oaks Adult Learning (GOAL) Green Oaks Adult Learning, GOAL, is a unique Christian educational program designed for adults with intellectual disabilities who have completed their secondary education plan. They, along with their families, desire participation in a program with a continuing emphasis on academics, social skills, vocational training, and additional life skills. The primary objective of the GOAL program is to provide an atmosphere of acceptance and appreciation for the gifts of the individual in a place where opportunities for continued growth and development are available. In addition, GOAL offers adults with intellectual disabilities a place for social interaction with their peers. The GOAL program is year round. Green Oaks Vocational (GO-Voc) Green Oaks Vocational is a Christian higher education program for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Students will be provided the opportunity to develop personalized, increased independence focusing on life skills; receive specific vocational training leading to employment; grow in their faith as they deepen their relationship with Christ; GO-Voc program is year round.
