Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful role supporting young learners' development as a Special Education Teacher in the San Antonio area. This contract position is dedicated to a self-contained Life Skills classroom for students in grades EC-6. You'll work Monday through Friday from 7:30-7:45 AM to 3:30 PM, making a daily impact in a collaborative, student-focused environment. Your expertise will be valued not just in instruction but also in collaborating with colleagues and families during Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings. Knowledgeable, confident participation in these meetings is essential, as is a professional presentation that aligns with school community standards.
Qualifications:
Valid Texas Educator License with EC-6 Special Education Endorsement Demonstrated experience in ARD processes and meetings Capacity to provide differentiated instruction in a self-contained setting Ability to contribute meaningfully in team settings and communicate effectively Adherence to dress code (no visible tattoos, natural hair color, professional attire, limited earrings)
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualized special education instruction and support for Life Skills students Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with state and district guidelines Collaborate with staff and families to promote positive student outcomes Actively participate in ARD meetings, offering informed input and documentation Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
