Qualifications:
Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment (TVI) or eligibility to obtain. Experience working in school settings with students who have visual impairments, preferred. Comprehensive understanding of assistive technology and adaptive materials for visually impaired learners. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and multi-disciplinary teams. Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments, tailoring educational materials and strategies to their unique needs. Assess student progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly. Consult with general education teachers to facilitate successful classroom inclusion and accessibility. Collaborate with school staff, related service providers, and families to support student development and independence. Participate in IEP meetings, complete required documentation, and track student data. Recommend and assist in implementing appropriate assistive technology and accommodations.
