Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of middle school students? A contract role for a Special Education Teacher is available near Harker Heights, TX, at a supportive school environment. This position starts as soon as possible and runs through May 26, 2027, offering full-time hours (37.5 weekly), with the school day from 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM. You'll be working in a moderate to mild self-contained class, serving approximately ten students in grades 6-8. The caseload includes access to a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and consistent para support; students present no significant behavioral challenges. Your expertise will provide targeted, compassionate instruction to help each student reach their fullest potential.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Special Education teaching license (SPED) for grades 4-8 (candidates with EC-6 certification also considered) Experience working in self-contained or resource settings strongly preferred Knowledge of best practices in individualized education programs (IEPs) Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals, RBTs, and school staff Strong communication and organizational skills
Responsibilities:
Deliver tailored instruction for a moderate/mild population in a self-contained classroom setting Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs and adjust instruction as needed Work collaboratively with support staff and other educators to maintain a positive, productive learning environment Foster students' academic, emotional, and social growth Document progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with school and state requirements This role provides a chance to work with a committed team in a welcoming educational community.
