You just might be the person we are looking for if you have:

Bachelor's degree in related field

Valid Texas certificate in appropriate area

Ability to work effectively between the school and community

Effective written & verbal communication skills

Bilingual certification required for respective positions

The mission of this role:

Provides special education consultation and instruction to meet the need of eligible students with disabilities. Communicate with campus staff, district special education staff, and parents/guardians information pertaining to student needs (such as but not exclusively: ARD paperwork, IEP's, BIP' and general progress)

What success looks like for this role: (In addition to Teacher Job Description.)

Prepare documents and attend ARD/IEP meetings for students eligible for special education.

Complete local, state and federal paperwork required for program participation.

Develop instructional programs for eligible students to achieve mastery of the essential knowledge and skills.

Collaborate with regular education teachers and related service staff to develop PLAAFP and annual goals/objectives for IEPs and to assist in providing an appropriate education for eligible students.

Administer criterion referenced testing.

Keep current and be willing to apply the state of the art educational practices.

Work collaboratively with general education teachers and administrators to oversee the responsibilities of the paraprofessional in implementing student programs, to include training in regards to data collection and implementation of specific instructional strategies.

Collect & maintain data related to student progress.

Report progress on IEP goals/objectives at the conclusion of each grading period.

Provide appropriate behavior management techniques for eligible students.

Complete State Assessment requirements for eligible students.

Communicate regularly w general education and parents/guardians regarding student progress/needs/concerns.

Implement federal, state, and district guidelines regarding determining and providing supports to students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.

Maintain confidential student records.

Attend district required and job specific trainings & staff development (i.e., training on Autism, content specific trainings, structured settings, etc.).

Other SHARS Duties as assigned.

Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.

Equipment Used:

Personal computer, copier, printer, calculator, laminator, and fax machine. Familiar with wheelchairs, wheelchair lifts, wheelchair restraints, ramps, locks, radio communication equipment, video monitoring equipment, and technology teaching tools (i.e., SMART Board).
