This contract role is an excellent opportunity to support students' learning journeys while collaborating closely with school staff and families. Highlights of the
Role:
Deliver individualized and small group instructional support for students with visual impairments, tailoring lessons to IEP goals and objectives. Collaborate with general and special education teachers, orientation and mobility specialists, and related service providers. Conduct functional vision assessments and provide recommendations for accessible instructional materials and classroom accommodations. Advise and consult with teachers and parents regarding strategies, adaptive equipment, and technology that maximize students' independence. Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and documentation to comply with state and federal guidelines. Participate in IEP meetings, interdisciplinary team discussions, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
What We're Looking For:
Valid Texas Teacher Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility to obtain. Background in special education, with specific experience supporting students with a range of visual needs. Ability to develop curriculum modifications and utilize assistive technology for accessible learning. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Collaborative mindset for effectively working with educators, staff, and families.
