Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or related field Valid teaching certification with endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive tools Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in various educational settings Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and lesson plans Conduct assessments to determine students needs and progress Instruct students in Braille, orientation and mobility, use of adaptive equipment, and other skills for independence Support classroom teachers in adapting materials and instruction for accessibility Collaborate with educational staff, parents, and outside professionals to advocate for student needs Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and related school activities
