Dan Peterson School Administration Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Special Education Teacher to provide specialized instruction to students with significant disabilities who are unable to attend school in a traditional classroom setting. This unique role is based out of Dan Peterson School but operates primarily off-campus at the Utah State Developmental Center (USDC) and various home-hospital settings. You will serve as the primary educator for students on "Home Instruction" status, ensuring that their educational rights are met through creative, individualized, and compassionate bedside or small-setting instruction.

Key Responsibilities Direct Instruction:

Provide 1:1 or small group instruction to students residing at the USDC and those on home-hospital status within the Dan Peterson community.

IEP Management:

Act as the primary case manager for all assigned students. This includes drafting, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique medical and developmental needs of each student.

Adaptation & Modification:

Create and deliver highly modified curriculum focused on functional skills, communication, and sensory integration, ensuring all lessons align with the student's current health status.

Collaboration:

Work closely with the Dan Peterson administrative team, USDC medical and residential staff, and parents/guardians to coordinate schedules and student care.

Travel:

Maintain a flexible daily schedule, traveling between Dan Peterson School and the USDC facility (and potentially local residences) to meet student needs.

Qualifications Certification:

Valid Utah Professional Educator License with an endorsement in Special Education (Severe Disabilities) preferred.

Experience:

Previous experience working with students who have complex medical needs or significant cognitive/physical disabilities is highly valued.
