9670487-22448 Job Description Make a meaningful impact by supporting students as a Specialist for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) learners. In this contract position based near Dahlgren, VA, youll use your knowledge and passion to empower students and improve educational outcomes. This unique opportunity entails part-time work in one district, with a schedule that expands to full-time hours by serving two additional districts. Desired Qualifications:
Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or meeting state requirements Experience teaching or supporting students with hearing loss in educational settings Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities preferred Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with staff, families, and related service providers Ability to adapt lessons and materials for students with diverse needs Exceptional organizational and communication abilities
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, adapting teaching strategies to individual needs Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Monitor and document student progress, updating records and conducting assessments as needed Advocate for inclusive classroom practices and access to instructional materials and technologies Offer consultative services to school staff and parents to support student success in various academic environments Facilitate staff training on best practices for supporting students with hearing loss By combining part-time assignments across three school districts, you will enjoy the consistency and satisfaction of full-time work while fostering growth and connection in multiple student communities.
