Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Take your expertise as a Special Education Teacher to a vibrant educational setting supporting middle school learners in a self-contained classroom. This full-time, contract opportunity is available for the 2026-2027 academic year and features a manageable caseload of 6-10 students in grades 6-8. Your skills will directly impact students' growth and development while you collaborate with an encouraging school community.
Qualifications:
Special Education certification in Vermont preferred; candidates with pending certification will also be considered Experience teaching or supporting middle school students (grades 6-8) strongly desired Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and differentiated instruction Effective communication and organizational abilities Ability to foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment Dedication to meeting the diverse social, emotional, and academic needs of each student
Responsibilities:
Teach and support students in a self-contained special education classroom Adapt curriculum and instruction to address students' varied learning styles and abilities Develop, implement, and track individualized education plans Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, student services personnel, and families Maintain records, progress reports, and data collection as required by school and state policies Help create a classroom culture that promotes respect, engagement, and safety This role offers a rewarding chance to shape the educational journey of middle school students in a supportive environment.
