Job Description

Make a meaningful impact by supporting young adults in a transition classroom setting. This contract opportunity is perfect for an experienced Special Education Teacher eager to empower students ages 1822 as they prepare for life after high school in a supportive onsite environment. Work alongside dedicated professionals during the 20262027 school year. Your extensive knowledge and commitment will play a central role in fostering growth and independence in your students. This is a full-time position requiring 37.5 hours per week, focusing exclusively onsite.
Qualifications:
Holds a Washington Special Education teaching license and ESA certificate Minimum five years' experience as a Special Education Teacher within school settings Strong background supporting transition-age students (1822) required Expertise in developing and guiding life skills, community engagement, and vocational readiness Ability to commit to the full school year and navigate credentialing, including a BIE adjudication process (potential for a brief start delay) Excellent communication, adaptability, and classroom management skills
Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and group instruction to students in a transition classroom Develop and oversee personalized learning plans tailored to the needs of young adults Collaborate closely with families, school team members, and external agencies Foster a nurturing and structured learning environment focused on independence Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies to maximize student success Contribute ideas for improving transitional services and support within the program This is your chance to guide students at a pivotal stage, helping them build skills that resonate far beyond the classroom.
