A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description
- 6th grade) Sunday School Teacher Position Overview Westminster Presbyterian Church of Olympia, WA is a progressive Christian community committed to inclusion, justice, and spiritual growth.
- 10:00 am-12:30 pm (2.5 hours) Preparation during week
- 2 hours Communication during week
- .5 hours Key Responsibilities
- Prep for and teach a 'Tween (4th
- 6th grade) Sunday school class every Sunday morning with support of volunteer leaders.
- Build positive, supportive relationships with youth and their families
- Collaborate with church staff and volunteers on curriculum and lesson planning
- Provide administrative support (communication, set-up/clean-up as needed)
- Send a weekly email to a list of parents, guardians, and teachers of the upcoming class for that Sunday
- Model a faith that is compassionate, open-minded, and justice-oriented Qualifications
- Interest in youth ministry, education, social work, or a related field
- Basic knowledge of PCUSA doctrines. (Will work with anyone who is not familiar with the Presbyterian Church (USA))
- Comfortable working with 'tween-aged students
- Alignment with progressive Christian values, including inclusion of LGBTQ+ individuals and a commitment to social justice
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Creative, flexible, and dependable Preferred (but not required)
- Previous experience working with youth (church, camp, school, or community programs)
- First Aid/CPR certification Compensation $25 an hour for 5 hours a week. Learning Opportunities
