This full-time leave replacement position focuses on delivering specialized instruction to a K-2 caseload of 20-25 students, helping to foster language development, academic achievement, and social-emotional growth for children with hearing differences.

Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:

Current Washington State Teaching Certificate (Residency or Professional) with a Deaf Education or DHH endorsement Proven experience working with DHH students at the elementary level, particularly in grades K-2 Strong knowledge of language acquisition, communication modalities, and individualized educational planning Ability to collaborate effectively with general education staff, families, and service providers Familiarity with developing and implementing IEPs tailored to DHH students Outstanding communication, organization, and advocacy skills A commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct instruction and support to students in grades K-2 with hearing differences Utilize a variety of educational strategies and tools tailored to the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal guidelines Work closely with administrators, specialists, and families to ensure student success Adapt instructional materials and classroom environments for accessibility Facilitate effective communication through sign language and/or amplification systems as appropriate Monitor progress and adjust interventions for student growth This contract runs from as soon as possible through January 2027, offering the unique chance to make a lasting difference in the lives of young students during crucial years of development.
