Job Description
Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting middle school students during the 2026-2027 academic year! This contract position spans from September 9, 2026, through June 16, 2027, and offers a full-time schedule of 7.5 hours per day (with a .5-hour unpaid lunch). You'll be part of a dedicated team of three, serving grades 6, 7, and 8 in a Learning Resource Center (LRC) setting with a caseload of approximately 40 students. All work is performed onsite, fostering rich daily interactions with students and colleagues alike. What you'll bring: Valid Special Education Teaching License or Certification in Washington, or the willingness to obtain one prior to your start date Ability to be fingerprinted through OSPI, or willing to complete this process as required Prior special education teaching experience at the middle school level preferred Strong skills in collaboration and communication to coordinate with two fellow LRC teachers Compassion, adaptability, and commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs Key responsibilities: Deliver specially designed instruction and supports for students in the Learning Resource Center (LRC) Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Collaborate with general education staff, families, and school support teams to advance student success Monitor progress, maintain documentation, and adjust interventions based on student needs Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom culture that encourages student growth and independence Discover the rewards of helping students thrive and share strategies with like-minded educators.
