Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Current certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education or equivalent credentials. Demonstrated experience working as a Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist in a school setting. Strong knowledge of assistive technology, communication strategies, and adaptations for students with hearing loss. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is highly preferred. Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Excellent communication skills to partner with educators, families, and support staff.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, delivering tailored lessons and interventions. Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and promote inclusion. Assess students' skills, monitor progress, and adjust strategies as necessary. Advocate for accessible technology and accommodations in the classroom. Participate in IEP meetings, providing expert input on goals and progress.
