Heritage Christian School is seeking substitute teachers who combine academic capability with a heart for ministry. In this role, you'll not only deliver quality instruction but also serve as a godly example, reflecting Christ's character to the students in your care. About the Role As a substitute teacher, you'll step into classrooms to carry out lesson plans left by the regular teacher, manage classroom activities, and provide a stable, positive learning environment for students. Positions may be daily or long-term, with additional responsibilities assigned for long-term assignments. This position is open to substitute teaching at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Qualifications Academic Bachelor's degree required Spiritual Born-again Christian Regular attendee of a church aligned with Heritage Christian School's Statement of Faith Agreement with the school's Statement of Faith Personal A genuine love for young people A gift for teaching or a sense of calling to teach A conviction of being called by God to serve in Christian education Emotionally stable with strong physical and mental stamina Open to constructive feedback Punctual, responsible, and dependable Strong classroom management skills Responsibilities Arrive on campus 15 minutes early (daily subs) or 30 minutes early (long-term subs); remain until the assignment is complete Assist with car line and patio supervision Dress and conduct yourself professionally Deliver classroom instruction for assigned grade levels and subjects Follow lesson plans left by the teacher Maintain accurate attendance records Keep classrooms neat and orderly; care for classroom technology (computers, printers, projectors) Supervise students in your charge, including during emergency/disaster procedures Make announcements and communicate clearly with students Maintain a positive, professional attitude in all relationships with students, staff, and parents Apply the Matthew 18 principle when navigating conflict Support the school's mission through prayer and personal spiritual growth Perform other duties as assigned by administration Physical Requirements Regularly required to stand, talk, hear, walk, and reach with hands/arms; occasionally required to sit, stoop, or kneel. Must be able to lift/move up to 25 lbs. Requires close, distance, and peripheral vision with the ability to adjust focus. Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions; moderate noise level.
