POSITION:

Long Term Substitute - Project Challenge (Gifted Program) Teacher

LOCATION

Reed Intermediate School / Newtown Middle School

START DATE
Immediately SALARY:

According to teachers' contract - appropriate degree track and step

QUALIFICATIONS

 Strong commitment toward gifted education  Demonstrated successful experience teaching gifted learners  Hold appropriate grade level certification

RESPONSIBILITIES

 Ability to recognize the learning differences, developmental milestones, and  cognitive/effective characteristics of gifted students, and identify their related academic  and social-emotional needs  Ability to design appropriate learning and performance modifications for individuals with  gifts that enhance creativity, acceleration, depth and complexity in academic subject  matter and specialized domains  Be able to select, adapt, and use a repertoire of evidence-based instructional strategies to  advance the learning of gifted and talented students  Desire to extend and create new learning opportunities for gifted learners  Knowledgeable in the identification process of talented and gifted learners under state  and federal law  Consults, as necessary, with colleagues, students, and parents to improve classroom  experiences for gifted learners  Other reasonable duties as assigned by the school principal and/or Director of Pupil  Services or their designee The Newtown Public School District values the benefits that a diverse workforce brings to our students and community.
