Job Announcement

• April 7, 2026 Pre-Kinder/PPCD Instructional Classroom Assistant The position of a Pre-Kinder/PPCD Instructional Classroom Assistant will be available at East Central ISD for the 2026-2027 school year.

POSITION FUNCTION/PURPOSE

Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Work directly with students in the pre-kindergarten and/or co-teach classrooms Coordinate with the classroom teachers to identify techniques and materials appropriate for use with each child Provide documentation of each student's progress Keep detailed records of time and effort with each child Assist teachers in program development and in preparation/acquisition of materials Assist with monitoring of students at school and on buses Perform other duties as related to the enhancement and supports of a Title 1 school-wide program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Educational/Certification:

High school diploma or GED Must have one of the following: 48 semester college hours with some emphasis on child growth or development or related area Treasuring our Paraprofessionals certificate Valid Texas educational aide certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Experience related to working with young children. Desire to work with students with severe disabilities. Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with other employees, parents, and students. Must perform duties with a minimum of supervision. Oral and written proficiency in Spanish is preferred. Must meet requirements of Family Services Certification.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions. Moderate standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping. Moderate walking. Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds). Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint, and assist non-ambulatory students. Exposure to biological hazards.
