Immediately Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARY
The Substitute Teacher will effectively teach the curriculum of the assigned class or classes and manage student behavior in the classroom. They will promote student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(include but are not limited to)- Provides students with a positive learning environment to support their intellectual, social, and emotional growth and development;
- Delivers instruction and implements lesson plans in line with Sizer School's goals to ensure success for all students;
- Supervises students in school related settings and ensures their safety and welfare;
- Maintains the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which they are assigned;
- Supports students in whole class, small group, and individual settings using various teaching methods;
- Adapts instruction delivery to best meet the needs of all students;
- Communicates with students, staff, and families;
- Follows and supports all school policies, rules, and procedures;
- Meets with the Manager of School Operations to become orientated to school policies and procedures such as attendance, discipline, schedules, emergency evacuation and incident response;
- Reports any student related injury, accident, illness, discipline issue to the School Principal immediately or as soon as possible;
- Maintains the confidentiality of the position including all student and school personnel information; and
- Other related duties as assigned by the School Principal or Manager of School Operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma from an accredited high school required. Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a high level of professional and personal integrity and patience and tact in working with students, parents, teachers, staff, and administrators.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to present information and communicate effectively.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing situations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Bachelor's degree preferred and Massachusetts DESE teacher license preferred.
- Ability to pass the CORI Background Check for Massachusetts.
