The Reynoldsburg City Schools' District Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction and maintaining a productive learning environment in the absence of the regular summer school classroom teacher. This position ensures that summer learning objectives—including credit recovery and bridge programs—continue without interruption by following lesson plans, managing student behavior, and supporting the academic and social-emotional needs of all students.Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Ohio Substitute Teaching License or Professional Teaching License issued by the Ohio Department of Education. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Ability to successfully pass required criminal background checks (BCI/FBI). Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience teaching in a summer school or accelerated learning environment. Knowledge of Reynoldsburg City Schools' curriculum and instructional technology (e.g., Google Classroom, PowerSchool). Demonstrated ability to manage diverse classroom settings and differentiate instruction.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary functions may include the following duties, responsibilities, skills, abilities, and other characteristics. This list of tasks isILLUSTRATIVE

Instructional Delivery Executes lesson plans left by the absent teacher with high fidelity while ensuring students remain engaged in summer learning targets. Adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those in credit recovery or intervention programs. Facilitates the use of instructional technology and digital resources as required by the summer curriculum. Classroom Management & Safety Maintains a safe, orderly, and positive classroom environment conducive to learning during the summer session. Implements district and building-level student behavior expectations and follows all safety protocols. Supervises students during non-instructional times, such as arrivals, departures, and breaks. Student Progress & Reporting Records accurate student attendance in PowerSchool as required by summer school compliance standards. Provides written feedback for the returning teacher regarding student progress, completed work, and any behavioral incidents. Ensures student work is collected, graded (if required), and organized for the regular classroom teacher. Professional Collaboration Collaborates with summer school building administrators, secretaries, and fellow educators to ensure program consistency. Attends the mandatory planning session on June 1st and any other required summer staff meetings. Models the principles of the Portrait of an Educator in all interactions with students, staff, and families. Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of:
Effective classroom management strategies. Subject matter appropriate for the assigned grade level (K-12). Student confidentiality laws (FERPA). Reynoldsburg City Schools' mission and Portrait of an Educator. Skilled in: Verbal and written communication. Use of educational technology (Google Workspace, interactive whiteboards). Identifying and responding to diverse student learning needs. Ability to: Follow oral and written instructions accurately. Maintain a professional and flexible attitude in a variety of classroom settings.
