SUBSTITUTE TEACHER
Reports To:
Principal Job Goal:

To provide classroom supervision when a teacher is absent.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reports to the principal or principal's designee. Knows daily schedule of classes and activities. Knows general classroom procedures. Knows location of material used. Follows lesson plans left by teacher. Knows designated play area and procedures. Knows lunch procedures. Knows classroom work and homework procedures. Knows students that require special attention. Knows discipline procedures and maintain control of the classroom. Remains at school until teachers are dismissed. Attends Substitute Teacher Orientation. Is familiar with and carries out duties of teacher such as: bus duty, car rider duty, lunch duty, and money collection. Follows written procedures for handling money. Shows politeness and good manners in dealing with others. Practices professional ethics and maintain confidentiality. Remains with students at all times. Complies with all schools and system rules and policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

A high school diploma or its equivalent Alabama Substitute Teacher's Certificate Must be able to work with youth

  • $80.00 full day / $40.00 half day Bus Drivers/Certified Employees
  • $70 for regular routes / $35 half day Classified Employees
  • Hourly wage of bus driver pay based on employees total years of experience in Alabama public schools Bus Aide
  • $60.00 regular route / $30.00 half day Instructional Assistants
  • $70.00 full day / $35.00 half day Child Nutrition
  • $70.00 full day /$35.00 half day Maintenance/Clerical
  • $70.00 full day / $35.00 half day School Nurse
  • LPN•$80.

00 full day / $40.00 half day School Nurse

  • RN•$130.

00 full day / $65.00 half day (Only in the absence of all the school registered nurses, will the substitute for the school system RN receive this pay.)
