To aide and assist both the teacher and students in the self-contained special education classroom. Illustration of responsibilities and key job duties: To work with students individually on classroom assignments. To work with students in small groups on various subjects. To assist the teacher with daily operations in the classroom. To supervise students if the teacher is conducting a special education due process conference. Accompany student/s to classes or activities outside of the special education classroom if deemed necessary according to a child's IEP and/or behavior plan. To perform duties as assigned by the teacher or administrators. To assist the teacher with the organization and completion of activities for the Alternate Portfolio Assessments which replace Benchmark testing for special education students who meet the criteria set aside by the Arkansas Department of Education. Serve the students in the classroom in whatever capacity deemed appropriate to contribute to the management of the classroom and assist the teacher.Special Assignments:
The Instructional Assistant may serve in the absence of the teacher in whatever capacity as needed. The Position Guide does not entail every task or responsibility that the employee may be asked to do. The employee may be asked to perform other duties if deemed necessary and reasonable to support the orderly operations of the Special Education Self Contained classroom.Organizational Relationships:
The Instructional Assistant is under the direct guidance of the teacher he or she is assigned. The next level of supervision will be the Principal or Assistant Principal of the building. Job performance will be assessed by immediate supervisor/teacher and the building level administrator. Performance will be assessed based on Key Job Responsibilities or Duties as in District evaluation system.Position Holder Qualifications:
