Summary:

Greenhouse is looking for a Montessori Assistant Teacher to work in our quaint little school near Downtown Gilbert. Your duties would be to support the Lead teacher as they conduct developmentally appropriate activities for children that will meet appropriate educational, social and emotional needs of the children with in their class. Applicants must have experience with children 3 to 6 years of age and are self-motivated and capable of creating an engaging, nurturing, and kind environment for our students We are looking for individuals who are self-starters but also enjoy working collaboratively. The ideal applicant is interested to take on new challenges as these arise, develop their own knowledge and skills, show initiative, manage a varied workload, and be content with work flexibly. Children in a Montessori classroom are introduced to the 6 areas of the classroom in the appropriate sequence as outlined in the traditional Montessori Philosophy. Classrooms are traditional Montessori-prepared learning environments emphasizing independence, freedom within limits, and discovery. Grace and courtesy are continually practiced and modeled by staff. Applicants should have great interpersonal skills with children and adults. Having basic knowledge of Montessori philosophy is a plus, must not necessary. We can not wait to add new members to our community! Preschool Teacher Assistant Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must have a fingerprint clearance card
• Must have a first aid/CPR certification
• Must have a negative TB test within the 6 months.
• Food handler's Card
• High level of flexibility and willingness to work within business hours
• Previous experience as a teacher assistant or in a licensed daycare preferred

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the care and supervision of a group ratio 13:1, ages 3-6.
• Provide guidance and developmental experiences that meet appropriate educational, social, and emotional needs of the children.
• Assist the Montessori Teacher with planned activities in classroom, outdoor environment and on the playground.
• Shared responsibility for set-up and clean-up of classroom.
• Materials prep as directed by the Lead Teacher.
• Shared responsibilities of all general duties necessary for the well-being and safety of all the children and their environment.
• Using positive disciplinary action, assist children to correct misdirected behavior. Children are to be treated with dignity and respect.
• Attend all scheduled staff meetings, staff in-service training, and occasional open houses.
