SUMMARY Under the direction of the School Principal, the person in this position plays a vital role in the following areas:
- Para-Professional/Instructional activities.
- School's Attendance Rates,
- Delivery of food services, and The Para-Professional functions as a key professional partner to the instructor in each classroom, as well as teach some elective classes.
The attendance coordinator plays a vital role in improving the attendance at the school by focusing on reducing chronic absenteeism. The attendance coordinator has the primary responsibilities ensuring students are attending school regularly by investigating causes of unexcused or excessive absences, communicating with families and assisting them in problem-solving, acting as a liaison between school staff and family to apply solutions, and providing quantitative attendance data based on school wide population and sub-group populations. As a Food Service Coordinator, the responsibilities include: coordination of food service and meals, conducting and verifying eligibility for free meals, completing and maintaining required meal service documentation, etc.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Provide One-on-one Assistance to Students
- Deliver tutoring services.
- Coach individual students.
- Provide individualized approach to each student.
- Provide focused guidance in subjects based on student needs and Individual Education Plan (EIP) as directed by primary teacher. 2. Manage Classroom and Facilitate Student Learning
- Manage the classroom in accordance with the Teacher.
- Supervise student learning.
- Maintain responsibility for discipline in the classroom.
- Implement Behavior Plans for students in elective classes.
- Document services if acting as the Primary Teacher. 3. Substitute Teaching
- Coordinate preparation of lessons with Teacher.
- Present instruction as designed by supervising teacher.
- Monitor students to ensure learning and maintain classroom order.
- Maintain records of student progress. 4. Document and Maintain Student Records
- Take attendance.
- Record evaluation results.
- Grade papers.
- Write student reports as specified by Supervisor. 5. Provide Classroom Support and Prepare Materials
- Inventory equipment (i.e., books and curricular materials).
- Make copies.
- File student portfolios.
- Maintain testing records. 6. Attendance Coordinator
- Confer regularly with the assistant to the principal, the school principal or their designees, regarding matters related to student attendance and welfare.
- Confer with students and their parents regarding problems or concerns related to student attendance, welfare, and make home visits and/or virtual meetings, as necessary; includes visiting neighborhoods in disadvantaged areas.
- Initiate pupil referrals to agencies as child guidance clinics, family service and placement agencies, and to other institutions as appropriate to eliminating attendance barriers for the family and student.
- Assist the principal and academic advisor to establish attendance plans with students and families.
- Act as a liaison between the school and community agencies, such as public and private welfare, psychiatric, and law enforcement agencies.
- Review daily attendance reports that are aggregated by grade level and designated subgroup populations.
- Assist school site personnel with campus safety concerns and campus supervision.
- Maintains consistent documentation and communication of activities and important information related to student attendance across a school wide level. 7. Coordinate Food Service Delivery
- Manage, coordinate and oversee the day-to-day service operations.
- Prepare school lunches and assists with service of food to students.
- Maintain food service facilities in a clean and orderly condition.
- Conduct and schedule basic inspections to ensure quality of services and adherence to rules and regulations to include safety and sanitation procedures.
- Supervise volunteers participating in school nutrition programs.
- Estimate and orders amount of food and supplies needed; monitors and controls expenditures. 8. Conduct Eligibility and Child Find Activities
- Accurately collect and analyze free/reduced lunch forms for meal eligibility if not in CEP program.
- Conduct case number verification within state designated time frames.
- Provide students and families letters determining free/reduced eligibility within the state designated time frames if not in CEP program. 9. Complete and maintain required meal services documentation
- Maintain production records and other logs related to the school nutrition program.
- Maintain daily meal service records aggregated by enrollment and meal eligibility category.
- Prepare monthly records for financial processing.
- Conduct program verification activities.
- Attend training as required by the United States Department of Agriculture.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of two years of experience as an instructional aide is required. Prior experience with secondary education is preferred.
