Bilingual English/Spanish required Position Overview Next Step Behavioral & Clinical Services is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and engaging Bilingual Adaptive Skills Trainer/Paraprofessional to provide individualized, one-to-one support to a child with developmental and neurodevelopmental needs. Services will be provided in the client's home and community in Dublin, California. The trainer will help the client develop essential communication, social, self-care, safety, and daily living skills while encouraging greater independence and meaningful participation in everyday activities. The ideal candidate is patient, energetic, culturally responsive, and comfortable collaborating closely with the client's family and clinical support team. Responsibilities Provide individualized, one-to-one adaptive-skills training in the client's home and community. Implement the client's individualized service plan under the direction of the Program Administrator or Clinical Consultant. Teach functional communication, social interaction, self-care, safety, household, and community-living skills. Support age-appropriate activities of daily living, including grooming, dressing, eating, and personal hygiene. Use modeling, prompting, reinforcement, visual supports, and task analysis to promote independence. Engage the client in preferred activities while introducing new functional, social, and recreational experiences. Support the client during approved community outings while maintaining safety and active participation. Collect objective data on skill development, participation, and progress. Complete accurate service notes and required documentation within established timelines. Communicate professionally in both English and Spanish with the client's family, caregivers, supervisor, and authorized members of the support team. Follow all individualized safety plans, caregiver instructions, company policies, and confidentiality requirements. Respect the client's dignity, preferences, cultural background, and right to make choices. Promptly report injuries, safety concerns, suspected abuse or neglect, and other significant incidents according to company procedures and mandated-reporting requirements. Maintain consistent attendance and notify the family and supervisor promptly of any scheduling concerns. Required Qualifications Associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university in psychology, child development, sociology, human services, education, special education, behavioral science, or a related field. Must be bilingual and able to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish. At least one year of experience working with children or individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, or other neurodevelopmental needs. Experience as an adaptive skills trainer, paraprofessional, behavior technician, direct-support professional, caregiver, educator, or in a related role. Ability to follow individualized service plans and implement recommendations consistently. Ability to collect objective data and complete clear and timely documentation. Strong communication, organization, patience, and professional-boundary skills. Ability to collaborate respectfully with families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States. Must successfully complete all required background checks and clearances. Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification before providing independent services. Valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, current vehicle registration, and automobile insurance. Ability to perform the essential responsibilities of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in psychology, child development, education, social work, behavioral science, or a related field. Experience providing in-home or community-based services. Familiarity with adaptive-skills assessments, visual schedules, positive behavior-support strategies, and progress monitoring. Registered Behavior Technician certification is welcomed but not required. Experience using augmentative and alternative communication systems or supporting individuals with limited verbal communication. Knowledge of American Sign Language is a plus. Schedule This is a part-time position supporting one client in Dublin, California. Applicants must be able to maintain a dependable and consistent weekly schedule. Additional hours or client assignments may become available based on employee availability, qualifications, and company needs.
