Essential Elements:

Print Paraprofessional — Essential Duties and Responsibilities Support students individually and in small groups under the direction of classroom teachers, special education staff, and school administration. Provide academic support in areas such as literacy, mathematics, written work, organization, and task completion. Implement accommodations, modifications, behavior plans, and instructional strategies identified in students' IEPs, 504 Plans, SST plans, or other support plans. Promote student independence by providing the least intrusive level of support necessary and gradually reducing assistance when appropriate. Support students with emotional regulation, sensory needs, transitions, communication, and positive participation in the school day. Use Positive Discipline, restorative practices, and relationship-based strategies to respond to student behavior calmly, respectfully, and consistently. Maintain awareness of student safety and provide active supervision during classroom instruction, recess, lunch, arrival, dismissal, transitions, field trips, and other school activities. Support inclusive participation in classroom lessons, artistic activities, movement, outdoor learning, festivals, assemblies, and other elements of the school's Waldorf-inspired program. Prepare or organize instructional materials, visual supports, sensory tools, and other resources as directed by the teacher or special education team. Collect objective data related to student academics, behavior, participation, communication, or progress toward IEP goals. Communicate relevant observations and student needs promptly to the supervising teacher or appropriate school staff. Maintain professional boundaries and protect the confidentiality of students and families at all times. Follow teacher and administrator direction while using sound judgment, flexibility, and initiative in responding to changing student needs. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, professional development, and student-support meetings as assigned. Follow all school policies and procedures related to student safety, mandated reporting, emergency response, attendance, communication, and professional conduct. Perform other related duties as assigned in support of students and the overall school program. Ability to remain calm, patient, and emotionally regulated when students are struggling. Ability to follow detailed plans and directions while adapting appropriately to real-time classroom needs. Commitment to inclusive education and an asset-based view of students with disabilities and behavioral or learning differences. Willingness to receive feedback, participate in coaching, and continually develop professional skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and communicate professionally with staff, students, and families. Interest in working within a Waldorf-inspired, arts-integrated, relationship-centered public school environment.
