Job Summary
BASIC FUNCTION
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist in providing instruction to music sections and individuals in musical technique, expression and notation; monitor student performance and report progress.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Tutor individual or small groups of students, reinforcing instruction in instrument usage including brass, woodwinds and percussion instruments or in other assigned areas of music. E Prepare, plan and organize daily lessons as directed by the teacher; identify areas requiring improvement and assist students as appropriate. E Observe and control behavior of students according to approved procedures; report progress regarding student performance and behavior. E Provide support to the teacher by maintaining clean work areas, demonstrating instrument use and care, and collecting and distributing sheet music and instruction books. E Confer with the instructor concerning programs, instructional materials and music selection. E Assure the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices and procedures. E Direct group activities of students as assigned; establish band sections including brass, woodwind and percussion sections. E Participate in meetings and in-service programs as assigned. Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and six months experience in working with school-age children in musical programs and instrumentation. Comments and Other Information
