Job Overview:
As an After-School Teacher Aide at Cypress School, you will provide direct support to children and young adults with Autism and other developmental disabilities by implementing after-school activities, teaching functional life and communication skills, and supporting independence. You will also engage individuals in social, recreational, and community-based activities while promoting participation, confidence, and positive behavior. This position combines direct client support, activity planning, safety monitoring, and data collection to ensure individuals receive engaging, meaningful, and person-centered services.
Key Responsibilities:
Engage clients in fun, social, recreational, and community-based activities. Teach functional life, communication, vocational, and independent living skills. Support sensory regulation and promote confidence and independence. Implement after-school activities and brainstorm new experiences. Ensure client safety, participation, and engagement. Collect and track data on client progress.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED Valid California Driver's license with a clear driving record Cleared fingerprint/background test required Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test required Negative TB test and medical examination required Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities in employment, education, and recreation programs preferred First Aid certified or willing to become certified required Excellent written and verbal communication skills Respond well to direction and work effectively with others Work cooperatively with staff and provide excellent care for employees with disabilities If you are energetic, compassionate, and enjoy helping others learn and grow, we'd love to hear from you!
