School Aide

The School Aide is an individual who works with students requiring instructional, and/or behavioral assistance under the supervision of the special education department, teacher and/or supervising designee. The School Aide may also provide support services to assist students with personal, physical mobility and therapeutic care needs, as established by a rehabilitation health practitioner, social worker or other health care professional. Responsibilities:

+ Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing educational activities and lesson plans. + Supervise and engage with children during playtime, both indoors and outdoors. + Support the lead teacher in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment. + Provide individualized attention to children, fostering their social, emotional, and cognitive development. + Assist with daily routines, including snack time, nap time, and bathroom breaks. + Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing updates on their child's progress and addressing any concerns. + Collaborate with other staff members to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements:

+ 6 + units of Early Childhood Education (ECE) (required). + College credits (required). + High school diploma (required). + Previous experience working with young children is preferred. + Strong communication and interpersonal skills. + Patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for working with children. + Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Westminster Minimum Requirements:

+ High School diploma or equivalent required + Two (2) years of pediatric experience preferred + Current CPR if applicable + TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable + Must meet all federal, state and local requirements + Must be at least 18 years of age
