Behavior Management Assistant, Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Position Overview As an ABA Paraprofessional, you will implement Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies to support clients in developing communication, social, and functional skills while reducing behaviors that interfere with learning. You will build rapport through pairing, using each client's preferred items and activities as positive reinforcement to encourage participation and skill development. The role includes observing and documenting behavior, identifying potential functions of behavior, and implementing individualized treatment strategies under the direction of the clinical team. Techniques such as Discrete Trial Training (DTT) may be used to teach skills including identification, labeling, following directions, and discrimination. Through consistent, individualized support, the paraprofessional helps clients increase independence and improve meaningful skills. Duties and Responsibilities Create a fun, engaging, and supportive therapy environment for children with developmental needs. Implement individualized ABA programs and behavior interventions under the direction of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Build positive relationships with children through pairing, rapport-building, and the use of individualized reinforcement. Provide one-on-one instruction and support based on each child's treatment goals and skill level. Support the development of functional communication skills, including speech, sign language, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices. Help children develop social skills, including appropriate play, peer interaction, turn-taking, and following social expectations. Support the development of independence with adaptive and daily living skills, such as toileting, dressing, feeding, hygiene, and following routines. Implement behavior support strategies designed to increase appropriate behaviors and reduce behaviors that interfere with learning. Use positive reinforcement and other evidence-based ABA strategies to encourage skill acquisition and participation. Collect accurate and timely data on skill acquisition and behavior throughout therapy sessions. Document session notes and communicate relevant observations and progress to the clinical team. Collaborate with BCBAs, caregivers, teachers, and other members of the child's support team. Provide guidance and support to parents and siblings to promote consistency and skill generalization across settings. Help children generalize learned skills across people, environments, and everyday situations. Participate in ongoing training, supervision, and professional development related to ABA and child development. Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment that supports each child's individual needs. Maintain confidentiality and follow all organizational policies, ethical standards, and applicable requirements. Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings and clinical supervision. Maintain a minimum of 85% attendance and consistent participation in scheduled sessions.
