In this vital role, you will support students with diverse learning needs within an inclusive classroom environment, fostering their academic, social, and emotional growth. Responsibilities Assist classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and early childhood education activities. Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities, ensuring they engage fully in classroom activities. Support students' behavioral management by applying positive behavior interventions and behavior management techniques tailored to individual needs. Help with behavioral, social emotional and/ or sensory support, ensuring a safe and accessible learning environment. Collaborate closely with special education teachers, therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and/or Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) that meet each student's unique needs. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive student information while documenting progress and supporting curriculum development efforts. Skills Strong understanding of childhood development principles and experience working with children in early childhood or classroom settings. Knowledge of special education practices, including behavior management for students with behavioral disorders and disabilities. Experience working with individuals with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, and behavioral challenges. Proficiency in classroom management techniques and lesson planning tailored to diverse learners. Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—to effectively collaborate with team members, families, and external specialists.
