Ellington Public Schools is seeking caring, dependable, and student-focused Paraeducators to support students in achieving academic, social, and behavioral success. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with children and want to make a meaningful impact in a collaborative school environment. Position Summary As a Paraeducator, you will work alongside certified teachers to provide instructional, behavioral, and classroom support for students with a variety of learning needs. The ideal candidate is patient, flexible, and committed to helping every student thrive. Key Responsibilities Partner with classroom teachers to deliver instructional support and reinforce daily lessons. Assist students individually and in small groups with academic assignments and learning activities. Encourage student participation and engagement throughout the school day. Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment. Implement behavior support strategies as directed by the classroom teacher and student plans. Support students in developing literacy, communication, social, and independent living skills. Monitor student progress and share observations with teachers to support instructional planning. Assist with classroom organization, preparation of instructional materials, and other assigned duties. Help ensure a safe, supportive, and welcoming learning environment for all students. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with children or adolescents in a school, childcare, or related setting. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative. Knowledge of positive behavior support practices and classroom management strategies. Familiarity with literacy instruction and student interventions is beneficial. Coursework or experience in education, special education, early childhood education, or a related field is preferred but not required.
