Responsibilities Assist classroom teachers in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs. Support students with disabilities by providing physical assistance, behavioral management, and communication support, including American Sign Language when applicable. Help facilitate literacy and math instruction, ensuring students engage with curriculum content effectively. Manage classroom behavior using positive reinforcement strategies and behavior management techniques designed for students with special needs. Collaborate closely with other professionals such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and counselors to support student development and success. Support early childhood education activities, including preschool and toddler care, fostering a safe and stimulating environment. Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to privacy policies while documenting progress and incidents accurately. Qualifications Experience working with children or students with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities. Knowledge of special education practices, classroom management, behavior support strategies, and curriculum development. Familiarity with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) guidelines and IEP processes. Skills in communication, writing, lesson planning, and literacy education are highly valued. Background in early childhood education or preschool experience preferred; Montessori or private school experience is a plus. Ability to provide physical assistance for students requiring mobility or behavioral support. Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with teachers, specialists, families, and other staff members.
