Job Description

Excel Creative Learning Academy is now hiring Assistant Teachers for our innovative private preschool located in Trinity. We are looking for fun, caring, energetic people to join our team of professionals. Are you responsible, reliable, and considering a career in education? We offer on-the-job training and will work with you closely to provide you with a mentor within a supportive learning environment. DCF training hours are required for this position within 1 year of employment, and at least one year of experience working with children is preferred but not required.
AVAILABLE POSITIONS
•Full and Part-Time positions available during daytime and early evening hours.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Support and provide continuity of care to help children develop secure relationships. In support of ongoing professional development, teachers will attend and participate in all scheduled trainings and develop individual plans for their own professional development. Assist teacher's implementation of classroom activities that are developmentally appropriate, open-ended and process oriented. Support children's ideas and initiatives, and creativity. Assist in development and managing an attractive and engaging environment that encourages children's independence and self-selection of activities. With Lead Teacher, guide and facilitate activities of the children, including: daily activities, selecting and arranging equipment and materials in the classroom. Engage positively with the children and use appropriate behavior management skills outlined in the school's child guidance policy. Cooperate with other staff and classroom groups to maintain the smooth functioning of the school, which at times may require changes to meet the needs of the children. Aide, as requested, in transition activities and in the provision and maintenance of safe and healthy developmentally appropriate environment. Eat with children and help them in their development of social and self-help skills and sound nutritional practices. Aide in conducting the daily health and environmental checklist. Assist in daily routines including helping to keep the classroom clean; this includes following all sanitary procedures for food service and diapering/toileting. In the absences of the Lead Teacher in consultation with the Academy Director provide support to the substitute staff and/or volunteers. Attend staff training and meetings, and parent meetings as requested. In conjunction with the teaching team, maintain confidential educational information for each child and ensure all confidential information is protected. Assist in performing administrative duties such as student monitoring and possible bus loading and unloading for before and after school students. Perform other duties, as may be required.

REQUIREMENTS
Must pass a background check (more information found here: https://info.flclearinghouse.com) Experience working with children (preferred by not required) Maintain CPR/First Aid training Required DCF training completed within 1-year of employment
