Job Overview Join Sarasota Academy of the Arts, a small charter school in Sarasota, as a part time Classroom Aide in our elective classes: Art, Music and physical education. (8AM-2:30 with a half an hour lunch). Your enthusiasm and classroom management support will directly assist in the learning and development of young students. In this role, you will assist teachers in creating a positive, engaging classroom environment that fosters growth, curiosity, and success through positive behavoir support and classroom management skills. Responsibilities Support classroom teachers by assisting with instructional materials and organizing learning activities that align with curriculum standards. Supervise children during classroom activities, recess, lunch, and transitions to promote safety and positive behavior. Assist with implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities or special needs, ensuring accommodations are met effectively. Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior incidents, and classroom to support educational compliance and regulation standards such as Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Communicate regularly with faculty and staff to provide updates on student progress and behavioral observations. Collaborate closely with teachers to manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management techniques and classroom management strategies. Skills Strong understanding of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices. Proven experience working with children, including those with disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Familiar with special education requirements, educational compliance regulations, and behavior management techniques. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with faculty and staff Ability to supervise children safely while demonstrating patience, empathy, and mentoring skills. Interests in the Arts First aid and CPR certification to ensure safety during emergencies is helpful This role is ideal for passionate individuals eager to support young learners' growth while developing their skills in education and child development.
