Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Student Support Aide/Assistant to join our dynamic educational team. In this vital role, you will provide essential classroom support to students with diverse needs, including those with disabilities, developmental delays, and behavioral challenges. Your energetic approach will help foster an inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive. You will collaborate closely with teachers, specialists, and families to implement individualized education plans (IEPs), assist with daily activities, and promote positive behavior. This paid position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children while gaining valuable experience in special education and early childhood development. Duties Support classroom activities by assisting teachers with lesson implementation, curriculum development, and classroom management strategies aligned with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Provide physical assistance and behavioral support for students with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum or with behavioral disorders. Implement behavior management techniques to promote positive conduct and support students' social-emotional growth. Assist students with daily routines such as toileting, feeding, mobility, and other childcare needs, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. Use American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods to facilitate effective interactions with students who have communication challenges. Support literacy education, math instruction, and early childhood activities tailored to individual student needs. Collaborate with teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other professionals to develop and execute individualized support plans for students' success. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive student information while documenting progress and behavioral incidents accurately. Experience Prior experience working with children in educational or childcare settings is highly preferred. Experience supporting students with special education needs, including those with autism spectrum disorders or developmental disabilities. Knowledge of classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies for students with disabilities. Familiarity with early childhood education principles such as Montessori or Toddler care is a plus. Understanding of IEP processes and familiarity with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using verbal skills and American Sign Language (ASL) is advantageous. Experience working in private school environments or special education classrooms enhances your candidacy.
