Responsibilities Assist lead teachers in planning and implementing curriculum activities aligned with developmental milestones and educational standards, including literacy, math, and social-emotional learning. Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior, implementing behavior management strategies, and maintaining a safe environment for all children. Engage with children through play, instructional activities, and one-on-one interactions to promote social skills, independence, and confidence. Help facilitate communication with children using techniques such as American Sign Language (ASL) when appropriate, especially for children with communication needs. Support children with special needs by assisting in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and adapting lessons to meet diverse learning requirements. Maintain organized classroom environments by preparing materials, assisting with lesson planning, and ensuring cleanliness and safety standards are met. Collaborate with team members to develop curriculum enhancements that support early childhood education principles like Montessori or preschool frameworks. Document observations of children's progress and contribute to ongoing assessments to support individualized learning plans. Experience Prior experience working with young children in preschool or childcare settings is highly preferred. Knowledge of childhood development theories and practices related to early childhood education is essential. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is a strong plus. Familiarity with special education practices such as IEP implementation and behavior management strategies is desirable. Classroom experience in private or Montessori schools will be considered an asset. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and team members using clear verbal and non-verbal methods including ASL if applicable. Previous experience in lesson planning, curriculum development, or literacy education will strengthen your application.
